1) Buyers are trying to "time the mortgage market". This means as the mortgage market fluctuates month-to-month, the housing market demand in 2023 will fluctuate monthly too.
2) Sellers are in control of the market. Sellers are standing firm on their price, or they are not selling. Keep in mind, for many, renting is an attractive Plan B.
3) Investment and Development in Los Angeles means this city's housing health will outperform (or be insulated) from any National slump. This is not just a matter of population growth. It is more so about investors being bullish on the future of this established urban center. With TOC, SB8, SB10, and ADU/JADU as viable density bonus options - developers are excited and making moves!
